I was referred to Steve Ellis by Geralds tires. If you know anything about Charleston Gerald's is the place for tires! So when they said Steve Ellis for other repairs I didn't really bat an eye. Steve himself is a great guy! He remembers me every time and personally takes care of me. Prices are reasonable and my favorite part about him as a mechanic, he's honest! I'm a small female who doesn't know much about cars, perfect for most mechanics to take advantage of. Steve took care of me when my 2002 broke down and does regular checks for me. I recommend him to everyone! Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the hours. They are really hard to work with with a full time job. They are open 9-5 I believe Monday through Friday. They use to be Saturday by appointment only but that stopped. If I can't get away from work, I have to take my car other places on Saturday if my oil is getting really low. But when I can escape, Steve is my guy!
After our regular mechanic closed down, we found Steve and started using his services, what a pleasant experience, Steve is friendly, knowledgeable and above all HONEST (which is pretty rare in the auto repairs business) I highly recommend him.
Mr. Steve Ellis and his staff at Steve Ellis Auto are top-notch! Besides being customer-service oriented, Mr. Steve (owner) called me himself to ask permission to change out brake pads on my vehicle while he was inspecting during a routine oil change. This meant a lot to me; especially, being female, he did not try to over sell me on any services. He is the most trust-worthy mechanic that I know! I highly recommend Steve Ellis Auto. I drive from Mount Pleasant to West Ashley to get my car serviced there and will continue to as the service was just that good!!!
Once again they have exceeded my expectations.....from oil changes to brake work to air conditioning repair to today’s battery replacement (which included a just-in-time middle of the road rescue!) If I could give more stars to this business, I would!. Steve Ellis has gone above and beyond in the service that he has provided to me. He has always been extremely honest, reliable, and delivers what he says he can deliver. There was also a time when he got on the phone with my car's dealer and worked out for them to reimburse me for some of the work I needed done. While in that instance, he may have lost my $$$, I was floored at his integrity and dedication to his customers. Because of that act of kindness, I have gone back time and time again and am always extremely pleased. I could not ask for a better mechanic and shop!! I HIGHLY recommend Steve Ellis Automotive!
The most trusted car repair shop I have found in Charleston, hands down. They do everything from oil changes to body work and everything in between. I found this place several years ago when I needed A/C help for my car. Other places estimated charges between $1400 to $3000 and I had to wait 2-3 weeks for service. (And aside from the cost, this was during summer in Charleston, not a good time to be without an A/C!) Steve Ellis helped me for about $800 in 2 days and 5 years later all is well. They never try to oversell when I go for oil changes either. Honest and friendly - our go to car shop!
